About Kate
Using vibrant color and spirited marks with brush and palette knife to “create an essence of place,”
Kate enjoys the challenges of plein air painting, then likes to reinterpret her impressions in the studio,
exploring the emotional content and the imagined.
Inspired by the elements of our natural world, Kate’s art reflects this appreciation
from representation to abstraction.
Born and raised north of Pittsburgh, PA in rural Amish country, Kate spent her youth where
wide open fields, the sweep of sky, and forests were second nature.
Adding to her influences is the incomparable beauty of Cape Cod, MA, where as an adult Kate
has returned for 25 years to further study and paint.
Kate paints, exhibits and resides in Washington, DC and Provincetown, MA.
