Elements of Red by Michele Cormier

“Totally Femme” presents fresh, inspiring viewpoints from emerging local women artists. Michele Cormier, Teresa Roberts Logan, Paula Lantz, Janathel Shaw, and Dina Volkova come from completely different backgrounds. What brings them together is their passion for art. “Totally Femme” is a group exhibition representing a variety of artwork from sculpture to collage to painting.

Each artist expresses her own culture, history, values, and styles with a fearless approach to texture, color, shape, and line. The strength, creativity and the beauty that is echoed in the works will certainly captivate the viewer. A delight to experience, it is a show not to miss.

Michele Cormier’s compositions are inspired by her French Canadian and Acadian culture and vary from contemporary abstract minimalism to methodical realism.

Teresa Roberts Logan describes her style as “emanating from an exploration of the theme of women in our world as icons and monoliths, life channels, and even decorative objects. The themes of women in society interest me greatly and a bold graphic approach is central to my most recent work.”

Paula Lantz uses the energy of intense color and collage combined, the abstracted figures reflect mysteries in our personal, emotional, and spiritual life . . . love, hate, happiness, sorrow, desire . . . all parts of the “human condition”.

Janathel Shaw will be presenting 3-D as well 2-D works of art.  “Art has a broader role than just entertaining the viewer; it should also educate.”

Dina Volkova observes “I am astounded by the beauty of the World. And I accept this visible beauty as a reflection of the invisible beauty . . . I am only fixating minute fragments of this eternal mystery.”
