Kate McConnell’s new work in her upcoming solo exhibition - SUITCASE PAINTINGS - is a collection of landscapes painted during her recent travels from the Andalucía region of Spain to Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

Kate demonstrates in gouache and oil the more intimate and spontaneous front end of her process through these smaller scale works painted plein air and which were literally brought home in her suitcase.

A major attribute to these paintings is their freshness and honesty, recording color notes captured in the moment with skilled immediacy.  Years of painting outdoors allow Kate to set up and jump in, despite varying conditions.

The show would not be complete if Kate did not include trees, her signature subject.
