About the Artist

Finkumba Crossroads, gouache, ink on paper, 7.5” x 9.75”, available

Teresa Roberts Logan is a multi-disciplinary artist and award-winning cartoonist, who focuses on visual storytelling through paintings and comics, using a bold graphic approach.

Logan’s work explores the theme of womxn in the world as icons, monoliths, and active spiritual beings. Depicting images and stories of womxn as angels, demons, sisters, goddesses, mothers, spirits, and figureheads, she uses a bold and graphic approach utilizing acrylic or gouache and often incorporating recycled materials and beadwork. These depictions of figures and faces are done in a contemporary style, with a fearless approach to color, shape, and line. A bold graphic approach is central to her work, and she’s started exploring the figures in more abstract ways, with more attention to texture, pattern, and bright color, alternating with monochromatic (shades of black) schemes.

Logan is influenced by Indigenous Australian dot paintings, Mexican contemporary and folk art, comics, and world textiles. Her mixed media works are in the collections of Kyoko Ono and Whoopi Goldberg. She is based in Pittsburgh, PA.
