CHRIS TUCKER HAGGERTY
About the Artist
Chris has exhibited her work both domestically and abroad in solo, two-person and group shows.
With work inspired by nature, indigenous cultures and spiritual pursuits, she has a great appreciation of the created world, and often incorporates natural elements such as feathers, leaves, twigs-- thingsthat have known life— into the work. She feels that such scavenged treasures as well as discarded bits that have a history can imbue her work with a certain power.
She is interested in traditional customs and symbols, especially the broad implications of circles. Within a composition, such elements create a dialogue, first with one another and then with the viewer. She enjoys facilitating the conversation.
She has a degree in Studio Art from Skidmore College an M.F.A. from the George Washington University. She is a Professor Emerita of Marymount University. She became a Touchstone member in 2021 and was formerly associated with Viridian Artists Gallery, Chelsea NYC.
