“Structure” by Ryan Feipel
Opening Reception: Friday, June 7, 6 – 8:30pm
Travel vicariously with fine art photographer Ryan Feipel as he depicts the enduring desire to be near the waters edge. Within his work Ryan finds the symmetry and balance in what may otherwise be seen as commonplace. His travels take him from coast to coast if effort to show how architecture, both big and small, can bring beauty and majesty in an already stunning venue.
While photography is a blend of many physical factors at play Ryan emphasizes time as the most important aspect in his photography. As he explains it, “The human eye is truly amazing, yet it is limited. With a camera, I can slow time, or rather, blend it together to form a more surreal image. My goal is not to just capture a moment in time, I want to capture a mood and evoke emotion.”
Ryan spends a great deal of time planning and studying his subject matter before committing to the moment. “I try to see the image before I ever step foot on a scene.” Often times he will walk a particular area just to understand the light and how it reacts throughout the day. He’s often spent an entire day on site waiting for the right light, sometimes revisiting multiple times.
Witness how he captures the symbiotic relationship of architecture and nature all along the coastline.
