JONATHAN FUENTES
About the Artist
Jonathan Fuentes, born in El Salvador in 1992 and is also known as Melenpersen, is one of Touchstone Gallery’s new fellows. His semi-autobiographical work is centered around joyfully documenting his ideas and experiences as a member of the LGBT+ community. His current mediums include collage, sculpture, and digital designs. He graduated from the University of the District of Columbia in 2023 with a BA in Art, with a graphic design concentration. During his studies, he was selected to have a solo exhibition titled Unhinged, which created both two-dimensional and three-dimensional works. His work was also featured in a collaborative exhibit titled Whispering to the Walls in 2024, in which he created one of several pieces for display and contributed to the assembly of setpieces and mounting of art for the exhibition. Fuentes received the award of Best Digital Work for his piece State Dinosaur Stamps in a student art show in 2022.
