LESLEY CLARKE

About the Artist

Glacier Melt, acrylic, 36” x 49”

Lesley Clarke is constantly seeking new ways to express the beauty of nature and the complex environmental issues surrounding us. Using encaustic and mixed media, she creates abstract landscapes and nature-inspired works that capture the eye and evoke emotion. Often, that emotion triggers questions about what we are doing to nature and how we fit in.

Her work explores glacier shrinkage, acid rain, coral bleaching, and even the lifecycle and movement of light, growth, and decay of the seasons themselves.

Having moved from Scotland to America, her work also reflects on the need for individuals to adapt to their changing climates, environments, and societal pressures. The environment changes the people and the people change the environment. It’s a cyclical process of growth and development that provides an imaginative reflection on a constantly evolving world.
