ELENA TCHERNOMAZOVA

About the Artist

Elena began her art studies in 2001 (oil painting, printmaking, ceramics). She earned a degree at Moscow State University in astrophysics as well as a degree in ceramics at Montgomery College.

During the last 16 years, she has practiced sculptural ceramics; her clay works are handmade of white or brown stoneware utilizing both color glazes and under-glazes. Elena’s works often combine the human face or figure with architectural elements, musical instruments, and mythological or real animals. A lot of her inspiration comes from various Eurasian mythological traditions such as the art of Medieval Europe, Ancient Greece and Rome, the Middle East, India, and China. Her works revolve around concepts such as a series of trip memoirs, science, music, chess, theater, and more.
