Leslie Nolan's color drenched figurative paintings capture the uncertainties of our world. OFF-KILTER, Nolan's solo exhibit at the newly reopened Touchstone Gallery, conveys the emotional intensity shared by its subjects.
There is nothing tentative about these paintings: Nolan's bold brush strokes and vivid colors create a blur between the real and the imagined, resulting in an impression of physical solidity threatened by emotional disintegration. These strong works convey a sense of society on the edge.
During studies abroad and a career with the State Department, Nolan lived and worked all over the world. The often uneasy situations experienced in exotic, sometimes unstable places subtly influence her work.
A Washington, DC region award-winning artist, Nolan has exhibited throughout the country and internationally. See images and her resume at: www.LeslieNolan.com She is currently represented by Touchstone Gallery.
